MRC140 Up The Yazoo

 

While the city of Vicksburg was on the ever meandering Mississippi at the time of the Civil War, the river has since bypassed it.  The Corps of Engineers’ Yazoo River Diversion Canal continues to provide water access to the downtown area.  This view shows the factories along the canal just down river from downtown and was taken from near where the canal meets the current day river.
