MRC167 Memphis in the Morning

Sunday, September 19, and an EARLY morning arrival in Memphis.  The Countess docked at the Mud Island Boat Ramp north the Hernando de Soto Bridge shown here.  The bridge is a tied-arch bridge carrying I-40 across the Mississippi River between Memphis, TN and West Memphis, AR.  The design is a continuous cantilevered cable-stayed steel through arch, with bedstead end posts.  The bridge was shut down on May 11, 2021 after a structural crack was found, closing all I-40 lanes over the Mississippi River.  The bridge re-opened in early August 2021 after the completion of repair work.
